“Question of the Delimitation of the Continental Shelf between Nicaragua and Colombia beyond 200 nautical miles from the Nicaraguan Coast (Nicaragua v. Colombia)” at the International Court of Justice in The Hague. Acted as Technical Adviser to the Government of Colombia. Judgment delivered by the Court in Colombia’s favour on 13 July 2023.
Assisted with site selection for floating offshore wind projects in Irish waters by providing data catalogue review and advising on additional potential data sources for the area to the main contractor, as well as providing insights on site selection constraints in Irish waters. This included geophysical analysis highlighting shallow gas presence and seepage.
Chaired the Steering Committee that delivered Ireland’s EU obligations regarding SEAs (IOSEA1 to IOSEA4) for Oil and Gas Activity in Ireland’s Offshore Waters.

Feargal Brennan Professor of Offshore Engineering
Professor Brennan is Director of the University of Strathclyde Offshore Engineering Institute and is the James Blyth Chair of Offshore Engineering at the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering. Feargal is a leading authority on the development and assessment of offshore renewables including wind, wave, tidal stream. He has for over twenty-five years been at the forefront of internationally leading research in structural integrity and its application to ships, offshore renewables and the oil & gas sector. He has published over one hundred and fifty papers in peer reviewed technical journals and conferences and sits on numerous national and international committees concerning structural integrity and offshore renewable energy. He is director of the Cranfield – Oxford – Strathclyde University Renewable Energy Marine Structures (REMS) Centre for Doctoral Training.
